Review: Unexpected Consequences by Sloan Johnson

Unexpected Consequences: an Isthmus Alliance novel
By: Sloan Johnson
Amazon Publishing
Genre: Contemporary Romance, ménage, GLBT, BDSM, light BDSM
Released: March 12, 2014
242 pages
UC is part of a series and must be read in order starting with Unexpected Angel then Unexpected Protector.  Enough said...on to the nitty gritty!
UC picked up where Unexpected Protector left us hanging with a major cliffie involving the girls, but it was sooooo worth the wait!  The sex that started as an itch to scratch became so much more when the risk of losing stares you in the face.
Zeke, Mary and Jeff have all been diddling each other for awhile now, but nothing serious.  After the accident, Mary is left unable to really care for herself, so Zeke insists she go home with him, and Jeff....well he might as well live there too. I just loved that way that these men stepped right in caring for Mary physically, emotionally, and sexually of course!  Living in domestic harmony brings these three closer together. They are each give the other what they need, but a love like theirs is not easy.  Zeke begins to feel emotionally slighted when Jeff and Mary have their time together, but as emotionally in tune with each other that matter is quickly put to rest.
There is something so breath-taking about a very alpha male submitting to just a firm grasp on the neck.  Jeff lets his Dom side reign when Zeke needs the strength to let go.  Zeke is worried how his friends and family will respond to his bi-sexuality, and as usual he underestimates them both.  With his music management business with Dylan taking off, Zeke enjoys the social drinking that comes with it, but Jeff hides his own demons when it comes to alcohol.  When comfort and strength come from an unlikely source, Jeff is able to make some hard decisions about his future with Mary and Zeke.
I loved how the author kept the previous characters in the background adding their comfort and support.  Not too shy to say that I love man-love!  Jeff and Zeke are amazing together and with Mary.  We even get to see the domme side of Mary come out while they play with Zeke and might I say that whole scene earned a cold shower, cigarette and a slap on the derriere.   The author did a superb job of showing the difficulties that can come with ménage relationship and coming out to friends and family about your sexuality. Loved this series and can't wait for more!

Blog Tour & Author Interview: Unexpected Consequences by Sloan Johnson

Interview with Sloan Johnson
RomFan Review and I would love to welcome Sloan Johnson as she tours this week promoting her latest installment in the Ithmus Alliance Series.  Unexpected Consequences picks up where Unexpected Protector leaves us dangling with a gut wrenching cliffie.  I had a chance to throw some fun questions at Sloan, so lets go see what she had to say!

*Tell me about your inspiration for UC. What are your future writing plans?
Unexpected Consequences felt like a natural progression for the Isthmus Alliance series. Since the release of Unexpected Angel, people have been asking for Zeke’s book. While writing Unexpected Protector, I started to have a clearer picture of who Zeke is and what makes him tick. He’s probably my favorite character in the series.

As for future writing plans, I’m currently working on a few standalone projects and will be working on Liam’s story later this spring.

*Is it helpful to have visual muse or do you prefer to generate them in your mind first?
It all depends on the story. There are times when a picture of someone will spark an entire story. Other times, I find myself fighting to find an image that matches what I see in my mind. With Zeke and Jeff, I struggled until I was introduced to Nico and Tomas, who wound up being the cover models for the book. There was one particular picture of the two of them that solidified so much about both characters.

*Any specific writing rituals?
I start writing every day with Get Thru This by Art of Dying. It’s become so much of an anthem to me that I have a bar of music from the song tattooed on my arm.

*What type of books do you like to read in your spare time? What was the last book you read?
I’m just as much of a sucker for the indie books as everyone else. There are months my one-click habits are a bit embarrassing! What I read depends on my mood, but most of the time I need something with darkness and angst. Right now, I’m working my way through The Arrangement series by HM Ward.

*Do you let your family read your books? Are they supportive of your writing?
For a long time, I didn’t. Now, my husband reads every book I release. It’s fun to see how he reacts because he waits until I give him permission to read, so he experiences the same emotions of waiting as everyone else.

*Brawn vs Brain...your favorite kind of man?
Brains win every time! You never know when something will happen that can weaken a big, burly man or mar a beautiful man’s face, but if he can make me laugh and challenge me to think, that’s something I’ll fall for every time!

*What is your favorite item to splurge and treat yourself with?
Music. I’m a complete music junkie and will attend every concert I possibly can and have an impressive CD collection (all recent purchases) even though it’d be more convenient to have everything on my iPad. I like having a hard copy and burning it onto my tablet.

Thank you again Sloan for stopping by RomFan Review today.  I know you're busy...now get back to work ***cracks whip***. Mwah...

Zeke Reed lives his life by his rules, the biggest one being that he refuses to settle down. Through the years, it has become a running joke amongst his circle of friends that his condo would be well served by the installation of a revolving door.
That’s what makes his friendship with Mary and Jeff work. All three of them are looking for some no-strings-attached fun. Until fate steps in, making them all take a look at what’s been developing while they’ve been busy fooling around.
Unfortunately, every decision in life has consequences. When you choose to openly share your life with more than one person, things get complicated. Will Zeke, Jeff and Mary be able to stand together as the world tries to pull them apart?

About Sloan Johnson sloanSloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s body. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass. When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after. Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?
Now, Sloan is a tattooed, purple haired mom of two kids, one of which was a thank you present to her husband for letting her get a Staffordshire Terrier with more anxiety issues than Sloan has, which is saying something. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself in a good book and forget that she has somewhere to be.

Blog Tour & Review: Possessed by You by Jo-Anna Walker

We first met Brett McLean in Break Me with Sebastian and Tori, but he was such an amazing character that he got his own series.  YEAH!!!! Brett's uber need for control was only grazed upon until now.

When Evie Neal took the bartending job at The Red Love she never expected to come face to face with such a powerful force of raw sexual energy.  The manager, Brett McLean, was drawn to her the moment he laid eyes on her.  Beautiful. Funny. Strong. Sexy. And most of all,  a desire to make her scream his name in the throws of passions.  Evie knew better than to get mixed up with her boss, but too bad her brain didn't get that memo.  Just one taste and they were addicted to each other like the purest of drugs.

After succumbing to Brett's dominate sexual energy just once, Evie is unable to walk away, but he is keeping something from her.  Secrets will try and force them apart, but will their love and need for each other be enough?

WHOA!......the book started out with a bang (hehe, pun intended) and makes you submit to its power.  The author did a fabulous job of showing us the real Brett in all his pure sexual power and need for control.  Evie and Brett's sexual encounters are of epic proportions requiring a cigarette (if I smoked), chocolate and a cold shower.  I think my ovaries exploded more that once thanks to Brett.  The truth almost costs him everything!  Two kindred souls like Brett and Evie will find a way.

Releasing control is relief…
I was warned about men like Brett Maclean.
He was dark and thrilling, intense and controlling. And he captivated me from the very start. He unleashed something inside of me like no other. His bad rep and troubled past drew me to him like gasoline feeding a flame.
With just one taste, I felt the danger in him, the uncontrollable power that left me breathless. The passion consumed me. Fast and hard.
Temptation couldn't guard my heart. I should have known a man of such raw and wild desires came with competition.

About The Author:

167850_476241431455_769841_n I'm a new self-published author who just got introduced to the writing world early 2013. My aunt suggested that I write a story because I'm an avid reader but I waved it off and left it alone. Well this year, a story came to me and I went with it. It took me a little bit but I finally got a story idea that worked and now I can't stop or control the characters/stories that keep popping up in my head. I'm born and raised in Canada and I live with my very wonderful and supportive husband, Michael. We don't have any children (yet) unless you count our cats. My hubby been my rock through this whole new experience for me. I couldn't have done it without him and my friends and family. One of the many things I love about this new chapter in my life is that I'm learning constantly. It's never a dull moment and as long as one person likes my story, I am happy. Blog Tour/Giveaway & Review: Rare and Precious Things by Raine Miller

(The Blackstone Affair Book 4)
hosted by: The Book Avenue

The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.

“BELLA, you look magnificent, the glow in your cheeks, everything, is utter perfection.” Marco, kissed me on both cheeks as was custom, then held me at arm’s length for a thorough perusal. “Lovely dress. I can see that marriage and motherhood is agreeing with you, darling.”

I felt Ethan’s hand at my back soften and relax at Marco’s friendly, but appropriate greeting. Maybe he’d get over his paranoia that Marco was trying to bag me every time he photographed me. Ethan just didn’t understand that Marco wasn’t like that at all. He was a professional photographer doing a job with me, and nothing more. Well, nothing more than a working, platonic friendship. He’d always been kind to me, and I liked working with Marco Carvaletti very much. I hoped Ethan could see it here tonight as we all interacted.

“It is, Marco, and I don’t think I could be any happier.” I leaned into Ethan, nudging him to speak up.

“Mr. Carvaletti, thank you for the invitation. We’ve been looking forward to this all day.” Ethan lied smoothly, offering his hand, playing the social gentleman to perfection, which he was well skilled at. I guess he did it out of love for me. I knew he didn’t want to be here anymore than he wanted me modeling. I mouthed a thank you only visible to him. He kissed me on the cheek and whispered in my ear, “Don’t forget about Simba, baby.” Then he wandered off to get drinks for us.

Marco took me on a tour of his elegantly restored 17th century villa as I marveled at all of the art. He had a whole room set up as a gallery of his photographs. There were a couple of me in there. One where I sat in a formal chair with one knee up, strategically placed, my expression far away and pensive. The other pose was a side view recreation of a vintage Ziegfeld Follies girl with a feather boa and some satin pumps. It was one of the first portraits I posed for and I really thought it was nicely choreographed.

“It is a beautiful piece, bella. I knew when we did that series you had the gift.” Marco stood behind me admiring the image he had created with me as the subject.

“I was so nervous posing, but you made me laugh when you told me to imagine Iggy Pop in a dress.” I shrugged. “That broke the ice and I was fine after that.”

“That one works for me every time, bella.”

“Well, Iggy Pop in a dress is funny, so good job, Marco.” We laughed together and made our way back to the main gathering.

Where was Ethan with my drink? I scanned the room for sight of him, but didn’t see his tall form standing out among the crowd anywhere. And I needed water.

“He is talking to Carolina and Rogelio, my friends,” Marco said, correctly reading my quest to find Ethan. “I believe they have discovered they are acquainted already.”

Really? Ethan knew people at this party? I suppose it wasn’t as bad as he’d predicted it would be after all. Couldn’t wait to bust him about his whining to come here.

“Oh, well that’s great. I look forward to meeting them. But first, I need to get some water. I’m really thirsty after spending a long time swimming in the ocean today. Must be all the salt.”

“Come with me, bella, I will take care of you.”

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.

Blackstone Affair spin-off, yet can be a standalone

RaPT was as wonderful conclusion to Ethan and Brynne's powerful whirlwind love story.  What started with a photograph morphed into two people saving each other from their past demons and to grow into a beautiful future with Baby Blackstone.
This story was not without its heartache.  They both face their past separately only to hurt the one who loves them the most, but isn't that how love is?  Not intentionally meaning to hurt the other, but to spare them any additional pain Ethan and Brynne realize that honesty is the only road to their happily ever after.
RaPT begins with their first night as husband and wife and might I add what a FABULOUS night it is!  We, as readers, get to experience all the fear and happiness that new parents go through waiting for their baby and big ol' alpha Ethan is the biggest mother.  He made me laugh more than once with this fatherly antics.  All the while, Brynne is calm and comforting to his worried mind.
Brynne is his mainstay and when he won't let her in she begins to doubt his love and commitment.  So when she confronts Lance in private, Ethan's foundation trembles and his own doubt is placed.
What I love about these two though is that they always manage to find each other again.  She is his peace and he her strength.
Baby Blackstone is the physical manifestation of their love and to watch them grow as parents seemed natural for them.  Raine conjured such amazing mental images of them in my mind that I felt like I was right there with them.
We have pinky-sworn to secrecy on what Baby Blackstone is, so you have to read for yourself!

Review: Carissa's Surrender by Gina Duncan

Carissa's Surrender
Shared Desires #3
by: Gina Duncan
$2.99 eBook
Jupiter Gardens Press
Contemporary Erotica / menage / GLBT
Released: December 2013

Life had been pretty easy for Carissa Randall. At twenty seven she was one of the top prosecuting attorneys in California and the youngest partner in the Towsen, Lambert & Randall Law Firm, owned a home, had great friends and drove the sports car she’d always wanted. The only downfall to her perfect life…she was in love with her best friend and house mate, Sebastian Hartwell who just happened to be in love with another man, Gavin Sanborn.

Both men tried to involve her in everything they did. At first she believed they were doing it because they felt sorry for her. The problem now…she was also falling in love with Gavin. When she learns the truth that both men want her to be their third, she’s not sure if she should give in to her feelings and tell the men she loves them both—or run like hell.

Unrequited love? Or is it....because her housemate is gay, Carissa feels as though she can walk around the house half naked. Who is it going to bother.. Sebastian pffftt not likely, he has a man in his life and pretty much has treated Carissa like a sister or something. So when as a lawyer Carissa is threatened, Sebastian calls in his equally sexy boyfriend Gavin.

Besides her temper flying, so does her passion for Gavin which she will try to ignore if he lets her. So really.. whats going on isn’t Gavin with Sebastian? Carissa will turn her insides in knots trying to ignore and stay away from Gavin.

Gavin a sexy martial arts teacher and for the moment Carissa's bodyguard. When she give him a hard time about protecting her, he treats her like any other child that acts out.. and spanks her. Gavin thinks about the hints that Sebastian has been dropping, and the response from Carissa's hot little body and Gavin knows just what to do.

Sebastian is and has been best friends with Carissa for a very long time, because of his lifestyle he figures he wouldn’t have a chance with Carissa for more than just friends. Watching her move around their house in just her thong would try a saint... well he and Gavin. (smiles). They then set out the sweetest seduction, hot passion, against the wall, in the office.. the court house?? say it isn’t so? Smiles.

It was a fun read, watching how the story unfolds, how all three deal with their unusual/usual situation. Loved how Gavin took control.. Rawr... I think Ill have to read her other books, since I liked this one so much. Enjoy.

Review: Keeping Cambria by Kitty DuCane

Keeping Cambria
Hell's Hunters #1
by: Kitty DuCane
$2.99 eBook
Self Published
Paranormal Erotica / menage
Released: February 2013

Cambria Johnson’s on a mission—to kill every vampire she can find. But when a vampire rescues her from another vamp, she has to rethink killing them all. Then he shows up again at another one of her kills…and he has a twin. When the two most attractive, sexy men she’s ever seen start spouting some nonsense about a mate, she knows she can’t run far enough.

Viper and Venom are vampire/werewolf hybrids and are part of Hell’s Hunters whose sole responsibility is to eliminate threats to society from feral vampires and werewolves. Women aren’t meant to fight, should never use themselves as bait, especially one as sensual as Cambria. Keeping their hands off of her is out of the question.

Keeping her safe is even harder.

Cambria is on a mission that has her out hunting and killing any vampires she meets. In searching for “Steven” she has come across some bad vampires.. when she is saved by one, that throws her confusion her way... every vampire needs killing right?? Even tall dark and sexy ones right??

Cambria will fight within herself and she gets closer to the Hell Hunters.
The Hell Hunters is a set of brothers that are hybrids, two of the brothers has just found their mate. Twins share everything right? Smiles. A human woman that fights vampires, Viper and Venom will have their work cut out for them trying to keep her safe.
"The Boys” a set of beautiful twins, Viper being the hot head and Venom being the calmer one. Venmon will need all the calm to keep his brother Viper from raging. That calm will also have to come in play as the buffer for Cambria, if either of the twins plan on showing her why she should stay.

I loved the story, loved the characters. It touched on passion, pain and heartbreak then love should bloom. Had a few scorching scenes that were drool worthy, a menage of human and sexy vamp twins, then each brother takes the vampire slayer individually while the other watches. Cambria will also do a bit of her own teasing. All the way around it was a great story. Id recommend it and cant wait to read the others. Enjoy!
