He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her…

Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life.

She’s haunted by dreams of her own death…

After catching her fiancé with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting
Calisto she’s drawn to him in ways she doesn’t understand.

They’ve waited in the shadows for centuries…

Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.

I enjoyed the third person narrative.  I usually don’t like reading books like that. With this one it just seemed to fit. The storyline and the characters fit as well. It is a story of reincarnation and love enduring.

Calisto was so very patient and enduring... his own hell (Vengeance) as he waited for signs of the only person he ever loved to reemerge.  With a love in the past so are the enemies that will forever be in the shadows waiting for their time to strike again.

Most of us will cheer for the underdog, in this story it is Calisto.  If anyone ever needed rallying and someone on his side it's him.  Also I try hard to stay away from emotional reads, this was somewhere in between for me.  Ms. Kessler hit most every emotion known to human nature, as she weaves a fabulous story of love, betrayal, trust and love again.

Lurking in the dark seems to always be a organization bent on being destructive and harmful.  In lies the organization of the brotherhood. The sole reason for Tala, Calisto's first love's murder. Which will set him on a path of vengeance but will he follow through with it?

Kate fits the story of a everyday girl.  Smart, self sufficient and beautiful with a few shadows on her own heart.  Kate will show you just because you’re beautiful and smart, it doesn’t make you weak.  The love will bloom fast, but the hot and sexy scenes will just make you see the passion and a great love that was lost... and maybe found.

Ms. Kessler introduces a mix of religion and vampire together, again in a way that didn’t take from the story (it didn’t take from the story, but I did get a
bit bogged down). Just helped with the flow as you read and feel the emotions move across your mind.  Is there such a thing as reincarnation?  Well, is there
really a brotherhood out there?  Sit back and travel back in time just a little bit then get jettisoned to the future.
