Review: Long Live the Queen by Kate Locke

Long Live the Queen
Immortal Empire #3
by: Kate Locke
$17.00 hardcover
Orbit Books
Paranormal Fantasy / Steampunk
Released: November 2013

Xandra Vardan thought life would be simpler when she accepted the goblin crown and became their queen, but life has only become more complicated. Everyone -- vampires, werewolves and humans -- wants the goblins on their side, because whoever has the goblins -- wins.

Queen Victoria wants her head, Alpha wolf Vex wants her heart, and she still doesn't know the identity of the person who wanted her blood. What she does know is that a project from one of the 'secret' aristocrat labs has gotten free and she's the only one who can stop the perfect killing machine -- a sixteen year-old girl. With human zealots intent on ridding the world of anyone with plagued blood and supernatural politics taking Britain to the verge of civil war, Xandra's finding out that being queen isn't all it's cracked up to be, and if she doesn't do something fast, hers will be the shortest reign in history.

I found the first book to this series on sale and since I love anything steampunk I figured I'd give it a try.  A couple chapters into it and it became impossible to put down.  This is a great idea about how the Black Plague mutated people, turning some into vampires and some into werewolves.  Because of that, Victoria is still Queen.  It's a story set in modern times, but with a bit of a twist.  They still have cellphones and cars, but they're a bit different.  It was fun to see what would happen if people old enough to be around for historical events were still alive.  But a war is brewing between the aristos and the humans, and poor Xandra is caught in the middle.  Although goblins came to be because of the plague as well, everyone fears them.  So even though Xandra looks like a typical half blood--half human, half vampire--she's hated on both sides when she takes the goblin throne.  This book brings to a head all the neat little plots that have been brewing in the first two books.  Because of that, this book just chugs right along at a wonderful pace, making you frantically turn the pages to figure out what's going to happen next.  Loyalties will be tested, and old grudges will have to be laid aside if they want to survive the coming war.  This was a great series.  I'm not sure if there are going to be more books in this series, or if it was designed as a trilogy.  The end tied everything up nicely, and while I hope to one day see more about Xandra and her crazy, daring exploits, I'm content where Ms. Locke left off.  This is a great steampunk series for anyone interested in the genre.

Penelope is sick and tired of being the perfect daughter.  Longing for adventure, she allows herself to be whisked away for an elopement, only to find her future husband only wanted her for her money, and she didn't have enough of it to please the man's mother.  Alone and nearly broke in a strange place, she has no choice but to contact her father and beg for mercy.  When a friend of the family shows up to fetch her, she's surprised to see Darius, a man she's had a crush on for years.  Ashamed, she tries to keep her distance, but close quarters and a race against time to make it home for Christmas have them learning more about each other than they'd ever planned.

This is a short story about how trying to live up to other people's expectations can be exhausting, and what happens when you try to step outside the mold they've placed you in.  Penelope does something daring because she longs for adventure, but nearly ruins herself and her father in the process.  She doesn't think that anyone understands her, so is surprised to find that Darius understands more than she thinks.  She used to think him dull and boring, but underneath his penchant for words and rationality burns a passion for life that Penelope is more than willing to explore with him.  A hot, sweet Christmas read .

Protected by Two Jaguars
Alpha Legend #2

$5.99 eBook
Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Paranormal Erotica / Menage / BDSM
Released: November 2013

When jaguar shifter Valerie Bellecote witnesses her father and uncle murder a woman for taking a leopard for a mate, she runs away. She’s given shelter in Jargonian village, and is smitten with brothers Micah and Stephen Jargonian. But Valerie’s sense of safety is shattered when her father finds her and tries to kill her.

Doms and jaguar shifters Micah and Stephen Jargonian are looking for a special mate to share them, not only as their wife but as their submissive. They believe they have found her in Valerie, but first they have to save her life.

After Abby, the woman who gave Valerie shelter in her home, is killed by Valerie’s father, Micah and Stephen embark on a mission to trap him and block the magic he is using to evade capture by the jaguars. Can they stop him in time, or will they lose the only woman they have ever loved?

The ongoing fight with an organization called the League (a group of people not always so secret, trying to end the existence of shifters) still is forefront in most of the shifters' lives. Though Valeria knows deep inside her father (who she saw murder another shifter, just because he didn’t like who she mated to), is in some part of that organization, she still isn’t quite ready to admit it. A very shy young lady that could use a self esteem boost as well as a good does of security, and Micah and Stephen may just be the runaway needs in her life.

The males are brothers, part of a special group that hunts/protects others from the league.  When they meet Valeria the need to protect kicks in, as well as a few other needs.  Their patience will be tested in various ways.  Abby, the shifter that Valerie is living with, along with the boys' father telling them to be patient.

There is a real threat that lurks in the shadows, that has Valerie wondering if her father has found her. It's a good thing that the Doms are patient and caring, because Valerie's lack of confidence could be her worst enemy.  Stephen and Micah know how Cats supposed to act, but they won't be lead by anything but what they've planned.  That plan is them finding a mate and a sub to share.  They have their eyes set on Valerie, but will her father intercede and take all of their dreams away?

Again and always loved the way safe-words were taught and mentioned.  So yes there are some BDSM tied into this sweet love story, along with some pretty hot sex (Valerie had little real experience in the lifestyle, less than that with sex). The story flowed well and the characters were awesome. I really liked how Ms. Rose brought back other characters.  I really enjoyed the story and would recommend it. Enjoy.

Review: Into the Ashes by Laurie Roma

Into the Ashes
Arcadians #2
by: Laurie Roma
$6.50 eBook
Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Sci-Fi Erotica / Menage
Released: November 2013

Raven Sanchez is a Chicago cop who has risen from the ashes of a painful past. Struggling with the disappearance of her friend, Raven seeks to find balance in her life, but everything changes when she’s struck by lightning and finds herself transported to another world.

Kings Savitar, Kadan and Tristan Akira have been searching for the woman who will complete their souls. Born in a world with a shortage of females, they fear that day will never come. When a goddess suddenly appears in the middle of their palace, they know she is the one they have been waiting for and claim her before she can escape.

Caught in a clash of cultures, Raven must forge a place for herself in this new world. When wills collide and legacies are unveiled, can she find a way to embrace being an Arcadian or will the fires of lust burn them all to ashes?

Dragons!!  When she's struck by lightning, Raven's world as she knew it changes, but for the good...well, all bets aren’t in on that yet.  Faced with huge beings (with fangs no less), pushes Raven's cop instincts to the max, as she duck and dodges and tries to escape.

Even on other worlds men have a habit of acting like Neanderthals, and it seems Arcadia is no different so both Kadan and Tristan singlehandidly tilts Raven's world more than it already is.  Raven lands in the middle of a festival being held at Kadan and Tristian (a Savitar absent brother) palace, creating chaos. Poor Raven, all she sees is giants, glowing eyes and fangs, and panic sets in.

With a mind link Kaden and Tristan knows Raven is their and Savitar's mate, but instead of calming her they make it worse, leaving the one brother (that is seen as a regret to other women) to calm Raven. Raven is drawn to Savitar, he slowly weaves peace and contentment between both of them, but never leaves his brother out.

Fate as it is allows the Gods to play and they have as the God of the Sun, his mate the Goddess of the Moons come up with a plan to help save Arcadia from themselves, it worked once why not again. (smiles).

There is nothing negative I can say about this book. Loved it all of it, the story, the characters. I adored Silas and Lumeria, their love and banter was touching. The haven with the unmated females was a big thing, enjoyed reading it.  If I had to pick a favorite character it would be Tristian, he had less interaction with Raven and loved her just as much.  Throw in some very hot yummie sex scenes through the story, even a bit of danger and you have a book I'd more than recommend.  This was part 2 but you can still read it without the first and understand it. Though now I’m off to find the first book. Enjoy!

Two wolves. One mate. A secret so big it will stun the werewolf world.

Gage Rylon has a secret. He’s the heir of the last Regis, the king of werewolves, but more than that, his father was leader of the Society of Rogues and murdered his own mate, Gage’s mother.

Orphaned and separated from his twin Gideon at the age of thirteen, Gage is finally reunited with his brother. But as it turns out, they’ve both set out to claim the same mate.

Marilyn Sanders has no intention of taking one mate, much less two. Throw in the fact that one of them is the Regis and she’s even more determined to keep her distance. If only they weren’t so damned irresistible. As if the dominant, overbearing Alpha would allow her to resist.

But there is something more dangerous than two mates lurking in the shadows. As Gage makes his identity known to the werewolf world, he comes under threat from those who won’t return to central rule. Worse, the new leader of the Society wants him eliminated…

A male with a past that no one but a few know of, a past that has kept him from his brother and his mate. Can you imagine having to cut off or hold back feelings that were as strong as the pull of the moon?  Gage is just that man, and has grown into a force to be reckoned with. He will protect what's his till his last breath, but will wreak havoc against his enemies.

Marilyn is such an independent unofficial leader of the females in her pack, both sassy and intelligent. She was warned to stay away from Gage growing up, and now as adults she can see why.  Both of them are stubborn to a fault with a healthy dose of attitude.  Which will win the day?  Or will it be a win win? Secrets to be told, past to be buried a future to unfold.

All kinds of issues rise, once Gage lets it be known Marilyn is his mate, then in comes his brother no one knew about and Gage finds himself not only battling the enemy but his mat'es own feelings, as well as her family.

There are some BDSM elements, a lot of control, possession.  That was tempered with the need to protect their mate and keep her safe. A lot of mind-blowing sex, growling and biting.  Did I mention sex? Body arching, nail scratching and teeth grazing..... smiles.

Danger is always near, and some of the innocent will pay as Gage and Gideon's mate is targeted.  As the Alpha Gage will find himself indebted to a shadow that always seems near.  Love the story and the characters, very easy to adore. Enjoy!

Review: Unforgiven by Elizabeth Finn

A mistake made long ago…

Pain buried so deep…

When Bailey Trent returns home to her small little Ozark mountain town after being away for nearly six years, she knows she’ll face the ghosts of her past. It does not mean she’s prepared to come face to face with the cruelest of those memories.

Darren Cory’s life is a shell of what it once was, and when he’s forced to endure the cause of his agony, hatred abounds quickly. But hating Bailey destroys him too.

Can Darren find a way to move past the pain and forgive the woman he once cared so much for before his anger consumes them both? Or will he drag them into the hell of an unforgiven past?

I found Unforgiven to be the love story of a lifetime.  All us girls I think pick out who we will marry when we are little, but very rarely does life work out that way.  Bailey’s dream husband is actually within her reach, until that tragic night when her world shattered.  Six years later they are face to face again and his hatred is almost more than Bailey can bear, but fate steps in.

Darren can’t believe he’s face to face with the person who destroyed his life, but also the only woman he has ever loved but never blossomed that love.  As Bailey and Darren try to move on, the magnetic pull is working its wonders, but at what cost.  Darren can't see past his hurt and hate and he is at times downright cruel to Bailey, which of course she thinks she deserves.  Will love truly conquer all?  Can it?

Unforgiven is a wonderful love story of two people who always knew they should be together but through stubbornness and circumstance took many years to get there.

Review: Persuading Eve by Tara Rose

Persuading Eve
Passion Creek, Colorado #5
by: Tara Rose
$5.99 eBook
Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Contemporary Erotica / BDSM / Menage
Released: November 2013

Vet tech Eve Rydell escaped an abusive marriage with the help of Dom and fiancé Phil Parkwood, and her life seems perfect. When Phil suggests a threesome with his cousin, Knox Parkwood, Eve is intrigued and agrees. But when she spots a man she thinks is her ex-husband, her illusion of a perfect life is shattered.

Passion Peak police sergeant Phil Parkwood helped put a gang of serial rapists in jail in Wyoming five years earlier. When one of them makes parole, he is spotted in Passion Peak. Will his fiancée and sub, Eve, become a target?

Knox Parkwood owns an auto detailing and repair shop, but while his business thrives, his love life is a disaster. When Phil invites him over for dinner and a threesome with Eve, he falls like a stone for her. But while his relationship with Eve blossoms, she is targeted by a stranger loose on the streets of Passion Peak.

Ms. Rose is beginning to be one of my go-to authors!!  I started and finished this in one day, because who needs sleep. (smiles)  As bad as Eve's past was and though she still has triggers, she has a life to be proud of, a man that loves the very ground she walks on.  Phil is a Dom and with the patience he is known for, has showed his fiancee whats it's like to be loved.

Ms. Rose blended a bit of danger, lots of love, a dash of jealousy and a pinch of family.  I really liked that she brought the other characters back into Phil and Eve's book.  I also liked how she showed that even cops can be bad (not in the norm but it does happen).

I fell in love with Knox, he seemed down and out but had more grit then we would have thought.  A bad relationship that left him hand to mouth, and some people feeling sorry for him (I think also at times feeling sorry for himself).  Phil mentioned and hinted more than once to Even, about a third joining their playtime.  Phil thought He could handle it, (inserts a smack to the back of his head) and Phil almost acted the donkey but managed to settle.  When the couple approached Knox with the idea of him joining in a threesome, all kinds of emotions passed all of their faces.  My favorite part of this story was when Knox and Phil had dinner and Knox made his feelings known.  In a lot of menage relationships I think the third gets left out emotionally.

In the scenes Eve was always been looked after, checking to make sure what level she was at.  It was nice to see the care her Dom had with her on all levels.  It was also very nice to see the patience the Dom had with someone who is new to the scene.  The sex of course was yummie and hot, could we expect less from Ms. Rose?  Again the Dom (Phil) showed care and love, how he guided Eve through the triggers that sometimes came up with her.

Overall I loved this, it was only a couple of times I wanted to smack Phil, you will see why. (smiles). Also how as a BDSM community they looked out for one another, Eve had friends to go to that either was in the lifestyle or knew about it.  Can't wait to read some of her other books!! Enjoy.

Review: Night Walker by Lisa Kessler

Night Walker
Night #1
by: Lisa Kessler
$2.99 eBook

Paranormal Romance
Released: August 2011

He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her…

Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life.

She’s haunted by dreams of her own death…

After catching her fiancé with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting
Calisto she’s drawn to him in ways she doesn’t understand.

They’ve waited in the shadows for centuries…

Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.

I enjoyed the third person narrative.  I usually don’t like reading books like that. With this one it just seemed to fit. The storyline and the characters fit as well. It is a story of reincarnation and love enduring.

Calisto was so very patient and enduring... his own hell (Vengeance) as he waited for signs of the only person he ever loved to reemerge.  With a love in the past so are the enemies that will forever be in the shadows waiting for their time to strike again.

Most of us will cheer for the underdog, in this story it is Calisto.  If anyone ever needed rallying and someone on his side it's him.  Also I try hard to stay away from emotional reads, this was somewhere in between for me.  Ms. Kessler hit most every emotion known to human nature, as she weaves a fabulous story of love, betrayal, trust and love again.

Lurking in the dark seems to always be a organization bent on being destructive and harmful.  In lies the organization of the brotherhood. The sole reason for Tala, Calisto's first love's murder. Which will set him on a path of vengeance but will he follow through with it?

Kate fits the story of a everyday girl.  Smart, self sufficient and beautiful with a few shadows on her own heart.  Kate will show you just because you’re beautiful and smart, it doesn’t make you weak.  The love will bloom fast, but the hot and sexy scenes will just make you see the passion and a great love that was lost... and maybe found.

Ms. Kessler introduces a mix of religion and vampire together, again in a way that didn’t take from the story (it didn’t take from the story, but I did get a
bit bogged down). Just helped with the flow as you read and feel the emotions move across your mind.  Is there such a thing as reincarnation?  Well, is there
really a brotherhood out there?  Sit back and travel back in time just a little bit then get jettisoned to the future.

Claimed By You
Vranthian Vampires #2
by: K.A. M'Lady
$2.99 eBook
Mojocastle Press
Sci-Fi Erotica / Menage
Released: October 2013

On Vranthia, The Wasting is spreading, mutating, claiming not only the women of this fierce, warrior race, but stealing the lives of men, children, warriors,
and now, some say, even the Elders among their race.

Rumors of the trion – the ancient joining of Vranthian, Darengy and Outworlder blood and magic as a cure – is growing beyond the halls of Prince Kuthar’s
court. With his brother, Prince Draven’s recent joining, there is the first glimmer of hope for their people. But with hope comes lies and growing subterfuge. The Elders demand a rightful ruler and some will stop at nothing to get it.

Kuthar Balacjek – leader, warrior, and vampire is first in line to be the rightful king. Bred to rule from an early age, he has learned Vranthian laws, and
their ancient history. He has studied their past, and fought their battles with the blood, sweat and ferocity, that only a true ruler can comprehend. But The
Wasting is an enemy that even he is uncertain how to conquer. Will he find the answers he seeks in the ones whose fate he now controls? Or have they laid
claim to his soul?

Cynthiana Rue – Cyn – has never been more irritated in her life. Space-napped by her best-friend and a misfit crew of alien vampires she is swept up in
Vranthian legend, war and her captors’ unbridled passions. Will she fight for her freedom or give in to the unknown?

Ooen has known slavery his entire life. Bound since youth to guard the Elder, Vogeth, he has known a life of deception. And now, The Wasting has changed
everything. Accused of Vogeth’s death, his fate now lies in the hands of the Vranthian ruler – something his human captive can comprehend. Will he too rebel, or will his magic help to set them all free?

First let me say I wish I'd read the first one.  This one is pretty much a stand alone, so reading the first one would have been icing on the cake.  But Wow
and Loved it!! I would have given it 5 stars except for the length--read it in a few hours.

The trion--another word for a smexy hot threesome--between a vampire, a healer, and an otherworlder.  Stir in some magic and intrigue, a dash of danger and a few drops of hot sexy sex, and you will end up with an enjoyable and fun--however quick--read.

A world is dying and the trion may have the answers to help stop it, but there are others at play that don’t want it to happen.  The Prince who is an alien vampire will fight hard to protect what is his.  Cyn will fight her fate for how long?  It can't be that bad to have two sexy passionate men lavish all
kinds of attention on you.  Okay, say maybe being dragged and snatched from your home world, then taken to space to be mated is a bit much for a red blooded girl to handle.

When Kuthar first meets Cyn he knows it's over for him, or better yet just beginning.  Finding his mate Cyn leaves the Prince in need to find the third mate
to his trion.  He finds a healer that is a slave that is under suspicion for murdering a Elder.  On top of that Kuthar has another brother that is out for
everyone’s blood.

There is magic afoot!!  Who doesn’t love magic? A healer's magic, death magic, and the magic of the trion.  As the newest trion is formed they race to their home world to hopefully solve the riddle of the wasting curse, but will they make it there in one piece?  Has fate given themselves to each other just to snatch them away?  Will their bodies glorify in the hot sparks created when all three of them come (pun intended) together?

The Lady of Death... well that is for the next story.. (smiles) enjoy!

Review: Mastering Macie by Rebecca Joyce

Mastering Macie
Men of Treasure Cove #7
by: Rebecca Joyce
$6.99 eBook
Siren-Bookstrand Publishing
Contemporary Erotica / BDSM / Menage
Released: October 2013

Macie Lynn Owens loved her life. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, and nobody was going to tell her otherwise. She gave up the silly dream of finding a man, children, and happily ever after. Accepting what life had dished out to her, she never looked back, until one night changed everything.

When fate knocks and gives Matthew and Andrew Jenkins a second chance, they grab on with both hands and refuse to let go. However, convincing the spitfire diner owner to accept their claim is harder than they thought. When two shocking dinner guests arrive unexpectedly, they have a new bargaining chip, and they aren’t afraid to use it.

As the town gears up for its bicentennial Founders Day Parade, a blast from the past returns, causing more trouble than the town can handle. As the pots and pans start flying, the residents must stand together to save everything they hold dear, or watch it all burn.

It's amazing how fast things can go wrong.  More amazing how guilt can keep one from achieving what they really want.  This was an amazing book, loved it!  It had history and took a bit to get through that, but now that I've finished the book I can see why Ms. Joyce put in all the details.  Matthew as a young man ran away to cope, and came back home to fix.  Andrew's a doctor so of course he tries to fix everything, and after med school he comes back home.  Then there's Maci--smart, quick wit, stubborn, and a mouth as bad as any old salty sailor.  She's learned to cope with the life fate dealt with the best way possible, at least she thinks she has.

All three of these people live in a privately owned, diverse and accepting little town.  Where old secrets loom upon the horizon, old shadows haunt from the past.  A town were mixed marriages are just the thing.  I will be going back and reading the other ones.  Not quite a stand alone, but you can read it and make sense of it without reading the others.

Maci is okay with having them Dom her in the bedroom, of course they do it so well.  Passion reigns supreme for Maci as her body and mind is tested by her Doms. I loved the scenes, but my favorite one was the tunnel.  Yep, now go read it.

What they show in caring for each other they lack in communicating, not just Maci but the men as well. Each of their limits will be tested and it has nothing to do with the BDSM, but in their everyday life with each other.

Ms. Joyce keeps you reading, wanting to know what the end will bring.  Will all three finally get on the same page?  Will a ghost from the past achieve the goal it's plotting for?  Will Maci be able to step into the darker side of the lifestyle?  Soo many and get the answers.  Enjoy! I did.

Captured by Two Alphas
The Alpha Legend #1

Leopard shifter Saffron Estampado flees her village to escape an unwanted mating with two brothers who are involved in the same evil society as her uncle, and is captured in the woods by cougar shifters Landon Sterling and Nevada Ruiz when they believe she was sent to kill them. But the same people chasing her are after rare black cougars like Landon and Nevada, and she works hard to convince them of that. As the men realize they are both in as much danger as Saffron, they also realize they are each falling for her. Saffron recognizes Landon and Nevada as her mates, but when the brothers to whom she was being forced to mate frame her for her uncle's murder, her budding romance with both men is put on hold while all three enlist the help of jaguars to fight the threatening evil and clear Saffron's name.

I did enjoy the storyline and the background about an organization that was trying to do away with some of the shifters.  Some of the background explained that but then left a lot to one's own imagination.  The element of fear at being caught was there.  I liked the mother and the grandfather's attitude at being cautious but also going about to continue their lives.

I also like how Ms. Rose introduced a human in the mix with shifters, that had shifters as parents.  Saffron is mentioned as having powers but didn’t really reveal anything more about that.  I would really like to read the next book in this series to see if anything more is revealed.

BDSM was touched on a little bit.  I really like how Nevada explained the lifestyle to Safferon.  Also how Nevada and Landon explained they were new and didn’t know anything.  The sex scenes were pretty hot, and Saffron was such a willing participant.

I've read a lot of shifter and menage stories.  This one left me with mixed feelings, but I liked the storyline well enough.  I liked the characters individually, but they didn’t seem very strong or sure of themselves.
Neither male really showed their Alpha side until the end of the book.

For Christmas, soft-spoken Lady Jenny Windham craves the freedom to pursue her artistic ambitions, though it will mean scandalizing her ducal parents and abandoning all hope of a family of her own. She confides her plans to successful artist Elijah Harrison when he's commissioned to paint a portrait of her small nephews, because assisting Elijah will bring Jenny that much closer to her heart's desire--won't it?

...Will break both their hearts

Elijah Harrison finds in his unlikely assistant not only an inspiring muse and unappreciated talent, but also a lovely and passionate woman. If Elijah supports Jenny's career, his own professional interests will suffer, but more significantly, he will lose Jenny forever. Both Jenny and Elijah must choose between true love and a lifelong dream.

Grace Burrowes brings us an entertaining and romantic story just in time for the holidays.  Her characters always tend to jump out at you and pull you into their stories.  Ms. Burrowes has become a Queen of Regency Romance in my book, she never disappoints with her knowledge of the era.

As for the characters Lady Jenny and Elijah Harrison both artist at heart even though Jenny feels she must choose between what is expected of her and what she wants to do and Elijah is trying to make something of his art to return to his family to prove his success.  Both characters have been in the previous books and now it is their turn to find love, but it is not going to be easy.

This is the final book in the Windham Series and what a way for it to end.  I look forward to seeing what Ms. Burrowes comes out with next.

12 Reviews of Christmas #10: A SEAL Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear

A SEAL Wolf Christmas
Heart of the Wolf #12
by: Terry Spear
$7.99 mass market paperback
Sourcebooks Casablanca
Paranormal Romance
Released: September 2013

Can an Alpha Wolf Who's Met His Match...

Navy SEAL Bjornolf Jorgenson has had tough missions before, but going undercover with feisty gray wolf Anna Johnson could top the list. She drives him crazy—in more ways than one. Now he has to investigate a murder, supervise a wild teenage wolf—and handle Christmas with Anna.

Survive the Holidays with Her?

For Anna, the only thing worse than staging the perfect family Christmas is having to do it with Bjornolf posing as her husband. Anna is a serious undercover operative who isn't afraid of a fight, even with a hunky SEAL shifter. With a killer on the loose, Anna just wants to focus on their mission, but the one thing she can't fight is her sizzling chemistry with Bjornolf.

Terry Spear never disappoints, A SEAL Wolf Christmas is a great read for those cold nights when you want to curl up with a good book.

Bjornolf and Anna are such great characters that you cannot get enough of them.  Throw in the storyline of tracking a killer and you add in the suspense and intrigue.

Ms. Spear will always have a reader in me and I cannot wait for the next wolf to make his appearance on the bookshelves.

12 Reviews of Christmas #9: Naughty Nicks by Christine d'Abo

Naughty Nicks
by: Christine d'Abo
$2.99 eBook
Carina Press
Contemporary Erotica / Christmas
Released: November 2013

Kim has been the coordinator at Naughty Nicks, home of the sexiest Santa strippers, every Christmas for three years—and for just as long, she's lusted after her boss. She enjoys their flirty banter and heated looks, but she's getting tired of Blake being nice when she's feeling naughty. This year, there's only one kind of Christmas bonus she wants.

With each passing holiday season, Blake's attraction to Kim has grown. But after a bitter divorce, he's not sure he's ready to jump into a new relationship, especially with an employee. One passionate kiss under the mistletoe and he realizes he's had enough of looking and not touching. Fortunately, he knows the perfect way to seduce Kim—a private striptease to prove she's the only elf for his Naughty Nick.

This was a fun, sexy story about two people who lust after each other and second chances at love.  Kim met Blake in a bar right after his divorce, and they hooked up for a night.  He convinced her to work for him at his Santa stripper business (which I would LOVE to see somebody do for real around where I live).  She's lusted after him for years, but he's afraid to get involved with her since she's so much younger than him.  He's also afraid she'll quit, and he's come to rely on her.  But then he gets a positively wicked idea, and it was a hoot reading the scene where he strips for her.  I ended up cheering right along with Kim.  Once again, a Christine d'Abo story that doesn't disappoint.

12 Reviews of Christmas #8: His for Christmas by Jennifer Haymore

His for Christmas
House of Trent series
by: Jennifer Haymore
$1.99 eBook
Forever / Grand Central Publishing
Historical Romance / Christmas
Released: October 2013

Lady Amelia Witherspoon simply must get home to her beloved family on Christmas Eve. So when a terrible storm threatens to leave her snowbound, she refuses to admit defeat-even if that means sharing a carriage with Evan Cameron, the last man she ever hoped to see...

Evan can't fathom why his oldest friend is as icy to him as the winter wind. All he does know is that Amelia is still the loveliest, most tempting woman he's ever laid eyes on. Their only option is to take refuge together at a nearby inn, sharing the one remaining room. Evan promises to be a gentleman...but it's a promise neither of them wants him to keep.

This was a short, sweet story about how a misunderstanding can lead to animosity and lost chances.  When Amelia overhears something out of context from Evan, she's both hurt and humiliated.  She vows to stay away from him, even if it breaks her heart.  Fast forward to years later, when they run into each other by chance.  She's unwilling to give him the time of day, but a snowstorm forces them to share a room.  There, the admissions come out, and the healing can begin.  I loved how the emotions from the characters came through loud and clear, and although it was a short story, it seemed to be just the right length for these two.
