Gale travels halfway across the galaxy to rescue her friend, only to have her ship break down. Convinced her friend's been drugged and there's no way she took a Warlord for a mate, she's furious when her friend sends another Warlord to assist in the repairs. There's no way she's going to let some stranger touch her ship. But with life support nearly gone, there's little choice. Although she tries to remain aloof, it's hard when his dazzling grin and casual touches set her blood on fire. And when he grabs her and whisks her away to safety, she's not sure whether to thank him or stun him.
A Warlord, Murad is known as the happy go lucky brother, until he meets his mate, all alone on a barely functioning ship filled with items she's, ah, borrowed from other people. He's delighted at her temper, and knows she will keep him on his toes for years to come. And when she loses her temper and stuns him, well, he knows he's found the one for him. Marooned in the middle of nowhere on his home planet, the two must work together to stay alive long enough to be found. And with nobody near, this Warlord knows exactly what he'll do to his little bounty hunter to make her see they belong together forever.
This was a great story about destiny and how two people are made for each other. Gale's whole life is on her ship, and she's never really fit in anywhere. When Murad starts talking about forever, she panics, not willing to believe him. She has issues to work through, for sure, but they help paint a better picture of who she is, and what she's had to go through to make her the woman she is today. Murad is a great character because he outwardly seems so carefree and happy, despite the enormous responsibility of ruling a planet. But with Gale, you get to see a more serious side of him, which helps to round him out and make you fall in love with him. Great story. Just a quick note though, I'd read Warlord's Bounty before you read this one. You don't have to, but it helps you get a better feel for the world and the charaters if you do.
