Letting her sister talk her into a night out, Tamara's nearly swept off her feet by a tall dark stranger.  Afraid of the potent feelings he invokes in her she flees, figuring she'll never see him again.  When Earth is threatened, Tamara's father, the ruler of Earth, seeks aid from their neighbors, the Bandarians.  As head of his security detail, she accompanies him.  And when her tall dark stranger turns out to be none other than the king of Bandar, she's both mortified and enthralled.  He agrees to help on one condition--her.  Although the thought of bartering her body offends her, Tamara understands what's at stake if she doesn't.  And being honest with herself, it really won't be that much of a hardship warming his bed for one year.  But he's got a lot to learn about her if the arrangement will last.  For instance, she's never been one to meekly submit, and he's crazy for expecting otherwise.

Kendrick can think of nothing else but the fiery woman who spurned his advances weeks ago.  When she walks into his throne room with her father begging for help, he knows he's found the perfect solution to get her into his bed.  Although her defiance of him boils his blood, he can't help but admire her spirit and determination.  And once he's had a taste of his firecracker, he knows he'll never be able to let her go.

This was a great story about mutual attraction denied, and realizing that sometimes a forced situation really can work out.  Tamara was a great character who took her duty seriously, to the point of denying her own wants and needs.  Kendrick is used to getting whatever he wants, so it's a wakeup call when Tamara refuses to meekly follow behind him.  Great story.
