Alexandra is content with the friends with benefits arrangement she has with Rhearden, and has been for years.  Independently wealthy, she's always held herself aloof from him, and has never considered that maybe Rhearden wants more from her.  And when sheen hits, she's astounded to find her gentle lover has turned into a harsh, angry man, who wants one thing and one thing only from her-her complete surrender.  But can she pay the price of giving him what he wants, especially when it's her heart on the line?

The ship gossip, Callie lives vicariously through the sordid tales her shipmates tell, never imagining she'd ever get the chance to live those tales herself.  When sheen hits their ship, she finds herself alone with the one man she's secretly craved for years, but never knew she existed...until now.  Now, he's looking at her as if she was a feast and he a starving man.  But she knows sheen affects her differently, and so isn't prepared for the myriad of sensations coursing through her veins-sensations that Aaron is more than happy to teach her about in a deliciously intimate manner.

Although Zev is a part of the crew, she's never been accepted as one of them.  That doesn't stop her from lusting after her captain, the one man she can never be intimate with.  A ritualistic sexual encounter years ago made sure of that, but has left her feeling hollow and unfulfilled.  When sheen crashes into the ship, she's shocked when she runs into Zev and sees the lust burning in his eyes as he growls one word-run.  If she sleeps with Zev, her future will be over, but can she truly give up this perfect opportunity to finally be with the man she's secretly loved for years?

All five books in this series are really quick reads, so I figured I'd try something a bit different with this review.  People are mining Uranus for materials, and there are priestesses who monitor the planet while it's being mined.  Occassionally sheen erupts from the planet to hit the ships.  Sheen awakens your darker desires in an effort to pair you up with your soulmate.  The crew of the CMC Theseus has gotten lucky up till now.  When sheen hits, the crew is scattered, faced with their secret desires and difficult choices.  The sex scenes are smoking hot and on par with what I've come to expect from a Kim Knox book.  Reading these all at the same time really helps to set the story, since it felt more like reading chapters of a book rather than individual stories.  The idea of sheen and the history of the planet didn't make total sense to me until the third book or so, but with the stories so character-focused, I can understand why.  Great reads.
