When Jessica sees a group of men chasing after a helpless female, she does what any good cop would do--tries to stop them.  But that's not a helpless female, and those droolworthy men are unlike anything she's ever seen before.  Suddenly, she's thrust into a world of angels and demons, where beauty can hide evil intentions and the powerful prey on the weak.  For someone who's long ago sworn off God, she has a hard time wrapping her mind around this.  Unfortunately, she doesn't have much of a choice, for she's now neck-deep and sinking fast.  Her only hope is to trust in Logan, a self proclaimed Paladin--and the only chance she has of getting through the upcoming battle alive.

I like stories of angels and demons, but I'm pretty picky about what I read.  Lucky for me, this was a great representation of both.  The Paladin warriors are protectors of mankind, and contantly battle from the shadows to keep evil at bay and humanity safe.  This story takes Logan, the future leader of the Paladins, and Jessica, a self-proclaimed Athiest, and thrusts them together into a nonstop thrill ride of danger, deceit and lust, where the stakes are not only their lives, but also their hearts.  It is book 2, and I'd recommend reading book 1 first, since there are a lot of references to book 1 that made me wish I'd read it first.  Other than that, it was an enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading more in this series.
