Ava is a Thief, someone with an empty soul and an insatiable craving for the blood and flesh of others.  Barely keeping her hungers in check, she throws herself into her work as a spy for the Mages, hoping to distract her inner darkness.  Instead she sees her mentor, a man she's secretly loved all her life, with another woman.  Determined to have him for herself no matter what, she goes to Heyerdar, an Elemental, and makes a deal.  Together, the two will work dangerous and illegal magics using the power of their lust.  In return, they both get what they want.  But as the magics build, both are drawn into a spiral of passion and obsession so strong they may never emerge the same.
