R.I.P. Angelo Riguero

It is with a sad heart and tears that we say good-bye to a sweet & wonderful man Ruben (Angelo) Riguero-Brito.  We lost Angelo this morning when he was fatally shot while he was trying to break up a fight at a nightclub.  I keep thinking this stuff you see on t.v. or read about but it would never happen to someone you know.

Carla and I had the pleasure of meeting Angelo at Ellora's Cave Romanticon last year and I remained in contact with him over the last year.  We became friends and he was gracious to volunteer to be my long-distance personal trainer, even when I told him I gained 2 pounds he told me it was no big deal and to get back on track.

You will be missed my friend by all of us who loved your smile, charm and your caring for those around you.

Update: Ruben's family has setup a Facebook Page in Memory of this great guy http://www.facebook.com/annette.r.stone?ref=tn_tnmn#!/pages/In-Memory-Of-Ruben-Dario-Riguero-Brito/279284965522566

They also released a statement to the press which can be found here

    1. J.C. - I am glad you got to see him. Ellora's Cave has announced that next Friday night at Romanticon will be Angelo Night so it will be either I buy waterproof mascara or go without make-up because I know there will be plenty of tears, laughter and memories.

I was reading an article Jaid Black wrote in dedication to him today and just as I started to read my MP3 player changed songs and started playing Address in the Stars by Caitlin & Will, out of all the songs and at that moment, of course the water works went into overflow and the first thought I had was "Damn you Angelo, did you change my music?"

  8. Very heartbreaking even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Angelo, he was one of my son's best friends and mentor. How I wish I could have spoken to him just once. My son only spoke positive things about Angelo, and how lucky he was to have him as one of his best friends. I cry everytime I listen to "Ruben's Message" only because this was how he was described to me-Positive and Genuine/Big Heart. We will never forget Angelo. You will always have a special place in my heart.

  9. Back in 2007 through my uncle I met Ruben. We talked for days about music and how much he wanted to form a band. At the time he was looking for a guitarist. so we jammed once. For a couple of hours and he was a great drummer. Really good. I lost his number since. But I always thought he was a great drummer and condolences to his family
