As the youngest vice-president at her computer security
company, Summer Torfan was a successful and driven consultant. She worked hard to provide for her family,
but soon loses sight of her largest priority and finds herself in a struggling
marriage. Once upon a time, Dave and
Summer had a love that was consuming…before her success. Now, they are in marriage counseling. They decided together that Dave would stay
at home and raise their young family allowing Summer to pursue her career. Always the supporting husband, he never was
jealous of her success.
With smoldering good looks, Dave can still make her toes
curl with a deep sensual kiss, but he will not compete with her job for her
attention. Summer must leave town for
another business trip and does so with tension in the air. She is wrought with guilt when Dave won’t
speak to her when she calls home. When a
mysterious gift arrives with special instructions, Summer gives up control and
does as she is told. All her life she
has strived for attention from her father, trying to prove herself over and
over again except someone else is in control this time.
I fell in love with this story and its characters. Dave being such a devoted husband and father,
and Summer such a strong woman who spreads herself way too thin…like a lot of
mom’s. I enjoyed the times that Dave
took control to allow her to just be in the moment. The moral of the story is
very profound though…we, as people spend too much time looking to the future
that we miss the best things right under our noses. I was sad to see their story end, but loved
it completely. Kudos to Ann for another
lovely story.
