When poverty strikes Charlotte's family after the death of her father, she knows that unless she can find a way to make money, her younger sisters won't get their Seasons in London, and will lose out at the chance to marry well.  Determined to do everything she can to support her sisters, she allows herself to be trained as a mistress and auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Lucas only bid on the beauty on the auction block so his depraved brother couldn't have her.  He planned on buying her then sending her on her way.  He never anticipated her bold advances would make his blood boil, nor could he deny himself the pleasures of her body.  When he learns of her situation, he's more determined than ever to send her back to her family.  But now that he's had a taste for this passionate beauty, will he be able to let her go?

Charlotte is a very likable character, and we see throughout the story there's nothing she won't do to help her sisters, even if she's uncomfortable with the idea of being sold for sex to the highest bidder.  Lucas has good intentions, but those crumble in the face of his desire for her.  The two have a chemistry that leaps off the page at you, and you can see the two as puzzle pieces that seamlessly come together to make a whole.  It was a wonderful short story about how circumstances you never expected can lead you to your heart's desire, if only you have the strength to follow the path laid before you.
