Welcome back to RomFan
Reviews Sara it is a great honor to have you with us today.
Tell us a little about your new release Untouched?
SH: You bet! Untouched is the second book in the Amoveo Legend series but it could be read as a stand-alone. The series is about the Amoveo—a secret society of dream-walking, telepathic shape-shifters made up of 10 different animal clans (Lion, Tiger, Cheetah, Panther, Wolf, Coyote, Falcon, Eagle, Bear and Fox). They are in search of their one true mate and if they don’t find them by the age of thirty they begin to lose their abilities and die.
Untouched is about two characters who were introduced in Unleashed, Dante Coltari, a pure blooded
Amoveo from the Fox Clan, and Kerry Smithson a plus-sized supermodel with a
secret. Dante is psyched because he’s finally found his mate—Kerry. However,
she has zero idea that the Amoveo exist, let alone that she herself is a
human/Amoveo hybrid and that there are
purist Amoveo who want to hunt her down and exterminate her for being, what
they consider to be, an abomination to their race.
Kerry has the gift of second
sight and with one touch she can see your darkest secrets but the touch also
brings blinding pain. The only person she could ever touch without pain was her
best friend, Samantha and the only vision she would see was the image of a
wolf. As a result, she avoids as much
human contact as possible. However, once Dante finds her….well…let’s just say that
she doesn’t remain untouched for long. Kerry’s friends hire Dante to serve as
her bodyguard on her photo shoot in New Orleans and it doesn’t take long for
things to heat up down in the Big Easy.
What is next in the Amoveo Series?
SH: There will be three more books in the Amoveo series. Untamed will be released in November and in 2013 there will be two more. Untamed is about two characters the readers will meet in Untouched…I wonder if they’ll be able to guess who it is?
What is your favorite thing about writing paranormal romance?
SH: The freedom to make a world where anything and everything is possible. There are no rules other than the ones you create for your world.
What is the most challenging thing you have encountered when trying to
write a story?
SH: Keeping it fresh. Each book in the series has to connect but you don’t want the reader to feel like they’re reading the same old story. I want each book to be a new experience but at the same time I want there to be a certain familiarity. It’s a delicate balance.
When creating your characters what comes first their physical
description or their personality?
SH: Personality always comes first and their appearance forms in my head as their character develops. I find that the physical attributes are reflective of their personalities.
Are any of your characters based on a real person?
SH: Maybe :-) Truth be told, I pull names from my family tree and there are definitely personality traits that come through from the people I love….or loathe. There is something cathartic about vilifying a nemesis through fiction. It doesn’t hurt anyone and it’s a great way to just “get it out”.
What tools do you feel are a must have for a writer?
SH: A laptop. An open mind. A sense of humor. Good judge of character. But most of all….time, time and more time.
How do you handle writer’s block?
SH: I step away from the project for a little while and just let my imagination roll wild. Music is very helpful as well. I’ve gotten some of my best ideas from songs while driving in the car.
Do you write under any pseudonyms?
If so what are they?
SH: Nope. But if I did I think I would use one of those goofy formulas to find it. Y’know…like to find your stripper name take the street you grew up on and the name of your pet. So mine would be Cooper Dunham.
How can readers find out more about you and your books?
SH: They can find tons of information on my website http://www.sarahumphreys.com and I’m easily found on Facebook http://www.facebooks.com/Amoveo and twitter @authorsara. I’ll be blogging all over cyberspace the entire month of April and I’ve even got a book tour going on which includes the RT 2012 Convention in Chicago next week. I can’t wait! I hope folks will come on by and say hello. I’ve got contests running every week on my website and a Grand Prize will be given out on April 30th.
Thank you so much Sara for spending some time with us it was a pleasure having you here and we hope you come back again soon.
UNTOUCHED BY SARA HUMPHREYS – IN STORES APRIL 2012
She
should be seen, but never touched…
Kerry Smithson's modeling career ensures that she
will be admired from afar, which is essential since mere human touch sparks
blinding pain and terrifying visions.
Every
good model needs a heavenly bodyguard…
Dante Coltari is hired to protect Kerry from
those who know who she is—or more importantly what she is—and want her dead
because of it. Nothing could have prepared him for the challenge of keeping her
safe. But, strangely, his lightest touch brings her exquisite pleasure rather
than pain, and Dante and Kerry have an otherwordly connection that might just
pull them through.
“Red-hot love scenes
punctuate a well-plotted suspense story that will keep readers turning pages as
fast as they can.”

ReplyDeleteI really love the series. I love the concept. Shapershifters with a twist. For someone who reads paranormal on a daily basis, its refreshing when I read a story with its own background. Thank you for including me in Amoveo world!!

I do love the sound of this series. I read a lot of paranormal stories and love finding a completely unique story/series. I love to see how authors will take a character type (whether vampire, shifter, angel, etc) and make them different from those of other authors. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of this story.

Hello again! Thanks for coming by today and good luck xx
Deletehaven't read any of Sara's books yet but this one sounds interesting (love those less than perfect heroines *g*) find myself reading more paranormal romances & this is seems to run right along the type I enjoy.
ReplyDeletegamistress66 (at) aol (dot) com
I'm a fan of imperfect heroines as well. All of my heroines tend to have a few insecurities that they wrestle with...but don't we all?! Thanks for stopping by the blog.
DeleteI haven't read any of your books, but your twist on the shifter genre sounds interesting. I love your formula on how to come up with a pseudonym! Lol, great interview!

I want to meet more characters from the Amoveo clan. There are so many animal types to meet and many I've never encountered in paranormals yet.

Congrats Sara on your latest release! I like what you said about writing paranormals...having the freedom to make the world that you want. That is very cool.
