We have with us
today best-selling author Patricia Rice.
Welcome to
RomFan Reviews Patricia it is a great honor to have you with us today.
Tell us a little
about your new release The Lure of Song
and Magic.
PR: Thanks so much for letting me stop by! Lure is about TV producer Dylan Ives (Oz) Oswin, who believes former singing sensation Pippa Syrene Malcolm holds the clue to finding his kidnapped son. Abandoned as a child, Syrene cares about the missing boy despite obnoxious Oz’s refusal to take no for an answer. But she refuses to unleash her dangerous siren's voice, even for a man who is impossible to deny... She’s already driven one man to his death with her voice, she can’t bear to do so again. The story tells how Oz lures Pippa from her hermit life into the real world again, teaching her that passion isn’t always bad, and her strange gift can help as well as hurt.
What can we see
next from you?
PR: I’m working on a sequel, of course. I’m also releasing more of my backlist digitally through Book View CafĂ© http://www.bookviewcafe.com/index.php/Patricia-Rice/ and Sourcebooks is publishing two more of my Magic classic historicals this year. But my next new release will be an urban fantasy under a pseudonym.
How do you come
up with your titles?
PR: Me? Come up with titles? Is to laugh! My working title for this one was Syrene and Oz. My editor is the title genius.
What is your
favorite thing about writing romance?
PR: Besides wearing my jammies all day? The camaraderie, the readers, the sense of fellowship among people who love romance.
What authors would
we find on your bookshelf?
PR: Every wall in my house is lined with books. You’d find everyone from Austen to Joan Wolf and Ruth Wind. And yes, they’re alphabetized by category and that’s just the historicals.
Is there
anything special you do to get in the mood to write?
PR: Routine. I sit my Muse in the chair every morning and say “Go, Girl!”
What was the
hardest part of writing a book?
PR: It’s all hard, but perhaps for me, the most difficult is really focusing on details after that first rush of creativity creates the first draft. Tightening and strengthening plot and characters and emotion is tough work.
Following
are just some fun fact questions which could be just one word answers or more:
What sounds
drive you crazy?
PR: oddly enough, people reading aloud
If you were
stranded on a desert island, what three things would be the most essential for
you?
PR: food, water, books
What is the
perfect romantic evening?
PR: sunset over the ocean, good wine and food, live musicians
How can readers
contact you and learn more about your books?
PR: easiest is to go to my website at http://www.patriciarice.com and choose your favorite method. I’m everywhere!
Thank you so
much Patricia for spending some time with us it was a pleasure having you here
and we hope you come back.
PR: It’s been a pleasure!

Immune to her voice but not her charm, Oz is convinced she holds the key to his son’s disappearance—and he’ll stop at nothing to make her break her vow.
