Tane is a Charon, a vampire tasked with hunting down and destroying those vampires who suffer from insanity.  He's the bogeyman of the vampire world, and everyone steers clear of him.  Rumor has it there's a half jinn in the area, and he's been tasked with hunting her down and bringing her before the Commision, since half-breed jinn are illegal.  Instead of finding a half-crazed unstable magic user, he finds a scared woman trying to protect a child.  Although it goes against his better judgment, he decides to help protect her rather than turn her in, knowing his life could very well be forfeit because of his decision.

Laylah just wants to protect the baby she found while walking between dimensions, and she'll do anything to make that happen.  What she doesn't realize is there are others searching for the baby, ones who won't hesitate to hurt her to claim the infant the so desperately need.  Desperate, she turns to Tane for protection, knowing he's the only one strong enough to take on those who are hunting her.  Now she'll have to worry about keeping not only the baby safe but her heart as well, for Tane alone possesses the one thing she's always been denied--love.

This was a fast paced story with plenty of heat and lots of action.  It's about a woman whose creation was against the law protecting a baby who was destined to end the world, and a vampire badass who must somehow try to keep them both alive.  The books do get better with each addition to the series, and I'm interested to see where the author will go next.
