Lizzie Carpenter decided long ago that she didn't want any man interfering in her quiet life with her daughter.  She takes care of herself and isn't looking for any help with any part of her life.

One day all that changes though when she wishes for a man that could help her then disappear.  Before she knows it, she gets her wish.  Tay not only fixes her fence but also other parts of her that she doesn't even know are broken.

But Tay has his own demons to battle.  He's trying to make amends from his own dark past, but only with the help of Lizzie's kind heart can he finally let go of the past and embrace the future.

This book was fairly well written but slightly run of the mill with Lizzie's distrust of Tay and his devotion to her.  The dynamic between Lizzie and the "Enemy Club" was very real to how women actually interact.  The only thing that bothered me was that the depth of the characters seemed to be missing.  I had a hard time empathizing with either character, but I was happy with the ending.

Review: Tipping the Balance by Rob Rosen

Tipping the Balance
by: Rob Rosen
ISBN# (couldn't find it)
$1.99 ebook
Torquere Press
Paranormal Erotica / GLBT
Released: ???

When Chris wakes up in purgatory, he finds himself confronted by an angel and a devil. It seems his soul is in limbo and it could go either way. In order to tip the balance, he has to use his God-given talent to his best ability, but the only talent he has is between the sheets. Is it possible getting it on with an angel and a demon can save him from hell and get him into heaven? And is either side ready for the likes of him? Lord only knows.

Chris doesn’t just sleep with the angel and the demon, he brings something out of both that they did not know existed within themselves. The evil and the heavenly become and know something other than they have ever known before. This story is an entertaining read that has its’ own version of “tipping the balance,” both thoughtful and sizzling. I would recommend this read to anyone.

Interview with author Susan Lyons

Today we have with us erotic romance author Susan Lyons.

Welcome to RomFan Reviews Susan it is a great pleasure to have you with us today.

Thanks, Annette. I’m delighted to be here.

1. Tell us a little about your new book Sex on the Slopes which was released on December 7th (which by the way I loved).

Thank you so much! This is the second Berkley Heat I’ve set around a destination wedding (the first being Sex on the Beach, set in Belize – and there’s another to come in July, Heat Waves set in the Greek islands). With Sex on the Slopes, I’ve moved from the sunny beach to the slopes of Whistler in winter, where the bride and groom aren’t the only ones steaming up those winter nights! Three couples get their own sexy romances in three interwoven stories. Wedding planner Andi wants to be a man’s “first and only,” yet can’t keep her hands off sexy firefighter Jared, a widower who’s loved and lost. Brianna, the host of a TV talk show, is career driven. Can Zack, a hot Aussie ski instructor, seduce her over to the sexy side? Maddie always had a thing for her brother’s bad boy friend Logan. She wants to prove she’s grown up, and find out how a good a bad boy Logan really is!

2. You also have a book coming out in February His Unexpectedly under your other name Susan Fox. Can you tell us a little about that story?

His, Unexpectedly is the third book in my sexy “planes, trains, automobiles, and a cruise ship” Wild Ride to Love series from Brava. In the series, three older sisters each travel home to their baby sister’s wedding. (The first two books are Sex Drive and Love, Unexpectedly.) His, Unexpectedly features the third sister, free spirit Jenna Fallon, who avoids commitment of any sort. When her car breaks down en route from California to Vancouver, what fun to hitch a ride with a sexy marine biologist, and show him one wild road trip. Globe-trotting Mark Chambers isn’t about to say no. Jenna bewitches and bedazzles him as they make their way up the Pacific Coast. For the first time ever, he wants commitment – with a woman who shuns the concept. Can Jenna overcome deep-seated insecurity and believe what her heart tells her – that this wild ride has an unexpected and very special destination: love?

3. With two degrees, one in law the other in psychology, what made you decide to start writing and how did you get your start writing?

I was working as a legal editor at the time. I’d always loved reading (as an only child, the characters in books were often my only companions, and they were terrific ones) but I didn’t think I was a creative person. Then a friend gave me a book on writing, and it resonated with me and led me into taking a night school course, then one Christmas holiday I started writing a novel, and I was hooked. I wrote short stories and novels, then started selling my short stories, which was encouraging. It took me way longer to sell my first book, but I was absolutely committed (or maybe should have been committed – LOL) and I hung in there. My sweetie had a bottle of Dom Perignon hidden away that he’d bought years earlier, not realizing how very, very long it was going to take me! Anyhow, now I’ve sold more than 2 dozen short stories (including 3 Spice Briefs), 11 books, and 5 novellas for anthologies.

4. I know it seems these two questions are always asked but readers and future writers like to know. What do you like most about writing? What do you dislike about it?

My favorite things are the characters and the readers. I love bringing characters to life and seeing how their stories develop and how they grow as human beings and eventually win the love they deserve. And I love thinking of readers out there, because I’m such a huge reader myself. It’s wonderful to know that readers are finding companionship, escape, laughter, and “touch your heart” moments in my stories.

I dislike the business side, and especially right now. The publishing industry is really tough for everyone involved in it. The economy is harsh and so many readers are having to tighten their belts and cut down on the number of books they buy. When sales numbers go down, publishers buy fewer books from authors, and authors have to quit writing and go back to their day jobs. So far, I’m hanging on, which thrills me no end, but every day I hear sad stories from wonderful authors. As is true with many writers, I’d like to just write, somehow magically get my books in the hands of readers without having to worry about the business side, and make a modest living doing it. But that’s definitely not today’s reality.

5. I think this is every woman’s question: how do you research your books? Some of the love scenes can get pretty racy.

No, I haven’t done all the things in my books. Some of them, though. LOL. Often, the ideas come out of a particular heroine and hero’s personalities and interaction. For example, in Hot in Here, Jenny and Scott’s “rules to have sex by” are that they’ll act out each other’s fantasies. So I thought about the two of them, and what they were likely to fantasize about. Or the ideas come out of setting, as with the Wild Ride to Love books that involve sexy modes of travel, or Sex on the Slopes, where it’s winter and the couples aren’t going to frolic on the beach. I do some internet research on things like sexual fantasies. Cosmo magazine is always good for ideas, and the “how to” mechanics. But mostly, as with all my writing, it’s a combination of having a good knowledge of my characters, then imagining them together.

6. When you get some down time what would you be doing?

Down time? What’s that? Well, every day I do make some time for reading, because I’m addicted. Other than that, in very rare bits of R&R time: having long dinners with friends (and wine!), walking outside, photographing nature. I do some travel – e.g., to Belize, where Sex on the Beach was set, or just up the highway to Whistler, to research Sex on the Slopes. (For those who read the book, no, the scene in the cross country ski hut didn’t happen to me personally! A hot tub in the snow, though…)

7. Who are some fellow authors you enjoy reading?

There are so many. Three “must read” authors for me are Luanne Rice, Kristin Hannah, and Barbara O’Neal.

8. Any advice you would like to give to future authors?

First, be realistic. If your motivation is to get rich, this is definitely not the easiest way. But if there are characters and stories in your head that you want to share with readers, then hurray for you. Work on the craft, read widely, be part of the writing community, be professional, persist, and believe in yourself. Also, save your money, pay down your mortgage, etc., because if you do get published, your income is likely to go down. I made it my goal to pay off my mortgage before I was published, and when I sold that made it possible for me to reduce day job hours and devote more time to my writing.

9. How can readers learn more about you and your books?

Drop by my website http://www.susanlyons.ca/  I have blurbs, excerpts, behind-the-scenes notes, discussion guides, recipes, and a monthly contest. I also have a monthly e-newsletter readers can subscribe to.

Thank you so much Susan for spending some time with us it was a pleasure having you here and we hope you come back again real soon.

Contemporary Erotica / GLBT

It's not all glory and glamour being the personal assistant of a major rock star, but Andrew does the job as well as he can. And when he's asked to procure a horse for a music video, he finds the most beautiful horse he's ever seen. However, the mighty black stallion has had a dark and troubled past, much like the man Andrew works for, Nathan Maynard. Now Andrew has a rival for Nathan's affection; a huge, hairy rival with four feet and a long nose. What's most frustrating about that is the horse appears to be winning.

In this story the point of view is from Andrew, Nathan’s assistant. The big black horse is the turning point for the relationship between Andrew and Nathan. The horse is almost the animal version of Nathan and they have similar backgrounds of abuse when they were young. This was a sweet and funny story that will pull you in. It will have you cracking up laughing and almost crying along the way. I recommend this short story for anyone who loves a good book.

Months of therapy go out the window for Noelle when Brad moves back to town. Her super-hot ex has tongues wagging and temperatures rising when he makes his first appearance at the company Christmas party. Everyone is curious about Brad and the rumors surrounding his arrival.

Noelle has all the answers, but can’t say a word without risking exposure of their past and her own dirty little secret to friends and coworkers who have no idea what really makes her tick—a fetish for fur…lots of fur.

In her head a fetish equals something wrong with you, but Brad shows Noelle that it’s just a part of who you are. There is nothing wrong with a love of something unique to you. The characters are fully developed to the point you are there with them. Their story is one of healing, acceptance, and contentment. It’s sweet and it sizzles. Noelle’s Gift is a great Christmas short story where you can almost feel the soft brush of fur.

Ravenous Romance
Contemporary Erotica / BDSM (one story contains rape)

A series of sexual encounters that are triggered by an erotic movie at a theater leaves little to the imagination and can be rather disturbing to readers. If you are not able to keep an open mind and care more about a plotline and less about the sexual side of the tale (or should I say tail) then this isn’t a book for you.

Borderline porn, an extremely raunchy movie that holds no boundaries back, Cinema Erotica is released (pun intended) at a theater where people go to mentally fulfill their wildest erotic fantasies then afterward return to their homes to re-enact them.

A group of tales from heterosexual, homosexual, ménages, and lots of fetish and BDSM, you’ll find it all in this book. Unsettling and shocking for some, perhaps a kick in the pants for others, whatever toots your horn, be warned that the contents of the stories span many sexual fantasies. A porn movie would be similar though there are some relationship plots that have an air of romance.

Though I’d not personally go out of my way to purchase this book, it would be interesting for people who are into that kind of kinky sex scene. Do be careful to view the ratings on a movie at a local theater in case you run into something like Cinema Erotica. You might need to have 911 entered in your cell phone on speed dial in case of a heart attack. LOL

All Tamsin wants out of her vacation on a space cruise is rest and maybe a tan.  When she sees a vampire on the deck, covered in sunscreen, wearing nothing more than a speedo and a come hither smile, she adds vacation fling to the list.  Too bad the moment he walked towards her she panicked and ran.

What she doesn't expect is to be hunted down by the sexy vampire and given an odd request-pretend to be his girlfriend.  Turns out he needs a cover as he searches the ship for a fugitive, and she's it.

But although the relationship isn't real, the sex sure is.  Looks like she'll get her vacation adventure yet.

This was a great story about a vampire on the hunt for a fugitive and a woman just looking for a little R&R on a space cruise.  The writing was clean and simple, and the emotions were laid out well enough to keep me riveted through the whole book.  The pleasure house idea was a neat one; seems like a much safer concept.  Also a vampire in full daylight strutting around in a speedo.  Would love to see that.  ;)

Wynne thought she had the perfect life, until the ultimate betrayal from her fiancee made her question everything she knew.  Desperate to find the answers she needs, she winds up at Twilight, a BDSM club.  There, she meets three different but equally tempting men, and begins a journey into the darker side of her passions, and herself.

A Dom, Dierk is instantly drawn to Wynne's submissive nature.  Along with Rolf and Zane, they teach her what it means to be truly submissive in every way.

Wynne never imagined she'd want to submit to any man, but she finds herself doing just that, and loving every second of it.  But when emotions start to get in the way, will it ruin everything she's done and learned?  Or will it help to strengthen the experiences?

Carla says:
Okay, this book was not what I was expecting, but not in a bad way.  Reading the back of the book, it sounded like it would be a book with f/m/m/m in it, but that wasn't the case at all.  Yes, there are three men and one woman, but it's not all at once.  The sex scenes aren't intermingled.  This was a better book than I'd hoped for, though.  I was expecting lots of sex with not much of a plot, but I found myself drawn into the story, and to the characters.  Wynne learned so much about herself in such a short time, and it was for the better, so I was thrilled about that.  And hey, vampires are always a plus.  Haven't been reading many vampire stories lately, so that was kind of nice to come back to.

Annette Says:
I was expecting something a little different menagé and more sex but what I got was more about a woman learning to be a sub with two different men while falling in love with another.  The blurb on the back is very deceiving.  I did enjoy the storyline and the growing relationship between Wynne and Dierk who both have their own demons to fight.

Interview with author Terry Spear

Today we have with us Urban Fantasy author Terry Spear.

Welcome to RomFan Reviews Terry and thank you for being one of our first volunteers for an interview when we started the site it is a great pleasure to have you with us today. Especially for me since I love your wolves.

Thanks so much for having me, Annette! I appreciate you for having me here today and of course I’m thrilled you love my wolves!!

1. Tell us a little about book six in your Wolf Series Wolf Fever which hit the bookshelves on December 1st?

This is totally a fan-requested story. Carol Wood was a secondary character in Destiny of the Wolf and was loved by many. There was just something special about her—her intrinsic need to want to save Lelandi, when she knew she couldn’t even save herself. She’s extremely flawed, loveable, caring, and well, she deserves a hunky wolf, don’t you think?

I had a lot of requests from fans to see her find a mate and live happily ever after. She’s a psychic, which is different from any of my characters before her in the werewolf world. But she’s also newly turned. And in this story, it’s the first time I’ve shown a character who REFUSES to embrace her wolf side, for good reason. In each of the stories, I try to show something new and different. Chester Ryan McKinley was like Carol in that both butted heads with the pack leader Darien Silver. I had fun showing what happened as they did in this story, and when the flu hits, the pack dynamics are all turned upside down.

2. Next in the series is Heart of the Highland Wolf which is scheduled for June 2011 and a few more to follow will there be even more? Please say “yes” *begging on knees*

LOL, you have to know when fans ask for something, I aim to please if I can!!! Yes, my editor even said she wanted to know that I would write at least 3 Highland wolf tales, but I’d love to do more! My editor already has Dreaming of the Wolf, Jake’s story from Destiny of the Wolf, the title might be changed due out in the fall, 2011. And I’ll be writing more concerning the other packs after the next 2 contracted stories are written. I’m nearly done with The Wolf and the SEAL, and then it’s off to another Highland wolf story. Then? Some have told me they want to see Tom’s story, more of Bella and Darien’s pack from Heart of the Wolf, and even some want to see what happened to the Arctic wolves from Legend of the White Wolf. :) So definitely, I plan more!

3. I know for people who receive your newsletter they are getting a free read of your book Winning the Highlanders Heart set in Medieval Scotland will there be anything new being released you can share with us?

I’ve only given the opening of that story since it’s available for sale. But The Accidental Highland Hero is a stand-alone sequel to the story also available for sale, and I planned to write another as soon as I can. Right now, my editor for that series is considering “A Ghost of a Chance at Love,” a time travel ghostly romance story set in 1870, Salado, Texas, where I’ve visited for years. But I want to write another couple of medieval Highland stories too.

4. How long have you been writing? How long did it take you to get published?

I’ve been writing for about 12 years, and had a couple of young adult paranormal books contracted, but before they were published, the company closed their YA line. Then I sold a vampire romantic suspense and the company folded. I gave that away to newsletter readers, many of whom said how much they loved it. I do have a vampire romantic suspense, Deadly Liaisons, out, and my werewolf editor…hmm, my editor who buys my werewolf romances is considering another vampire romance of mine.

5. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do?

I go to Scotland. Oh, no, wait, that’s what Julia Wildthorn did when she had writer’s block. She went to Scotland and well, got caught up in all kinds of intrigue—hidden tunnels, secret niches, hot Highlanders who also happened to be wolves in a Highland castle. Yep, surefire way to get rid of writer’s block!!! For me, I do research. If I’m stuck, it really helps me to get some more ideas that I might not have thought of otherwise. I reread my scenes. Lots of times, I’ll just be writing along and forget I included some interesting threads. I try to make notes and add some more story surrounding these threads. Sometimes, I just take a break and watch a movie or clean, but I prefer reading to anything. So sometimes, I just break away from my own writing and immerse myself in a wonderful romance and then I feel rejuvenated!

6. Who seems to be more cooperative writing about them your wolves or your highlanders?

Hmm, well, truthfully? Neither. I have notions of how things should go, and they don’t go along with them. I don’t plan out my stories. I’ll be writing along, “seeing” scenes, mainly the dialogue between two characters, and then the scene evolves. But often, I’ll think of one thing and by the time I’m through with writing it—it’s their scene and no longer mine! :)

7. When you get some down time what would you be doing?

Reading, and I like to watch an occasional movie, or play a Role Playing Game. My computer has been down for a couple of months, but if I could, I’d play some more on a couple of games my son got me for last Christmas. I also love to garden and hike. Recently, I hiked through 7 Scottish castles, and visited a Texas wolf reserve. I hope to go to another in New Mexico next year.

8. Who are some fellow authors you enjoy reading?

Moning, Lefoy, Laurens, Anna Campbell, just tons of authors too many to name. But as soon as I find one I love, I buy all her books.

9. Any advice you would like to give to future authors?

Love to write, love your characters, love your story. If you truly love them, it will show in your writing. Create flawed characters, but ones that readers can relate to and sympathize with.

10. How can readers learn more about you and your books?

And you can sign up for my newsletter where I’m giving a free read to tide readers over until the next release! This month I’ve started to give Allure of the Wolf, the first version of Legend of the White Wolf. It has a few similar scenes, but the majority of the book is different. Legend of the White Wolf is out in the stores now.

Thank you so much Terry for spending some time with us it was a pleasure and a thrill for me having you here and we hope you will come back and visit us again soon.

I’m happy to come back with a bunch of restless Highland wolves in June if you’ll have me! I promise they’ll leave their swords home! I can’t promise about the shapeshifting business. It’s a wolf thing, you know! Thanks again for having me!

Now for one lucky person Terry is giving away one of her books!! All you need to do is leave a comment with your email address and we will be drawing a winner on Thursday, December 16th open to US and Canada only.

Constance and Jack have been business partners for three years now.  Their relationship is simple-she gets a mental image of a woman about to be killed, and Jacks hunts down and kills the potential attacker.

Simple, right?

It would be, if Constance hadn't secretly harbored feelings for Jack all these years.  And when he finds out, what should have started as a simple relationship spirals out of control.

Jack is not as he appears.  He harbors a dark secret, one that spans centuries, and somehow involves Constance.  As she struggles to remember the secrets and lies buried deep within her mind, she must also unlock the secrets of who she really is, if she ever hopes to have a chance with Jack.

This story has an interesting paranormal twist to it, involving a mythological race of beings I've never before encountered in a book.  I think this story has the potential to become something great, but it has a long way to go.

I had a real hard time getting through this story, and actually didn't want to finish it, which is extremely rare for me.  I would have loved to see the sentences smoothed out so they flowed better, and the characters showed inconsistencies throughout, mostly with how they portrayed emotions while speaking.  I just wasn't able to click with the characters in this story.

Alice is a bit of an odd duck among those who know her.  A geologist, she'd much rather be working with her rocks than spending time with men.  While on a dig, a meteor strikes not far from her.  At the crash site, she finds a small capsule.  Picking it up, she suddenly finds herself in a strange place, about to be sold as a sex slave at an alien auction.  But just as all seems lost, she's rescued by a tall, dark and hunky warrior, who claims her as his own and takes her back to his home planet of Kelon.  As she gets settled in, she's suddenly confronted with an enemy, one who's been lurking in the shadows, waiting for his chance at payback.

Human abduction stories where the woman is sold as a sex slave, only to be bought by a hunky guy who saves her and treats her right are always fun to read.  I was a bit surprised that Alice didn't put up more of a fight, but it does kind of fit with her character.  The book was well put together, and I didn't have any problems or any questions as I read it.

A photojournalist who has it all decides to take on a dangerous photo shoot in a war zone with the most annoying, self-centered man on the planet; a movie star.

Bryn Baxter, daughter of a renowned military man, knows no bounds when it comes to trouble. She’s always in it knee deep but this time she suffers the consequences of her actions. Tragedy strikes leaving her lost and alone mentally as she tries to pick up the pieces, suffering from alcoholism and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

When General Duncan Baxter hires an ex-military man to bring his daughter back home and protect her from the threat of death by now deceased Lewis Jackson’s crazy fans, Beck Reynolds takes on the job for his ex boss. A Master at a fringe club where he’d seen the most alluring woman from afar, Beck finds himself face to face with non-other than Bryn and realizes he must make her submit to him and love him for life.

While Bryn battles her own issues, Beck can’t decide whether to dominate her or cherish her as she heals. The issues getting in the way are more than a possible killer.

Although the storyline was well done, the head hopping was so confusing it was hard to decide who was thinking or speaking. There were also a few issues in the tale that didn’t make sense such as two stalkers killed when Bryn is rescued when a few pages before the man left by car and the woman stayed, holding a gun over Bryn. There were two shots to kill the villain, yet we don’t know if it was Beck or Jaime shooting. With a lot of polish, this story would be great as the characters stand out in a crowd with awesome personalities.

Maeko is a faithful member of his Mun.  When he learns he's being sent to terraform a new world, he accepts for the good of the Mun.  He's not sure how he'll cope with having only one other person around for a whole six months, but he's willing to try his best.

Koie has never fit into her Mun, so she jumps at the chance to get away from everyone for a whole six months.  She'd rather be alone, but figures she can deal with one other person, as long as he leaves her alone.

The two receive a surprise when they learn their Muns have bought them two androids to help with the work.  What they don't know is that both androids have been programmed with a special function, one that will help alleviate the loneliness while on their mission.

As time passes, Koie and Maeko start to develop feelings for each other, but due to the Muns, neither have known physical intimacy.  It's a good thing the androids are there to teach them all they know...

This was a great story.  It wasn't a full length novel, but the author managed to pack enough into it that I was satisfied by the end, with no burning questions left unanswered.  Muns, as far as I can tell, are small, self-sufficient communities (borderline cults) where everyone shares a mind connectedness.  It's like a group orgy without the actual sex.  In fact, none of them know what sex is, so when Koie and Maeko are shown the pleasures of the flesh from their bots, they don't know what to think, and feel like they're betraying their mun by being selfish and wanting more.

Kiri and Gage used to have a steamy relationship, until a slip of the mouth from Kiri broke them up.  She has strong feelings from him, but knows he's not interested in a long term relationship.  Since he's a AI cyber vamp, she's not even sure he's able to have feelings.  All she knows is she now misses him with every fiber of her being, especially their erotic moments when he slips his fangs into the neck ports she had installed just for him.

But time away has caused Gage to reexamine his time with her, and he's realized how much he cares for her.  Problem is, she's been avoiding him like the plague.

Guess it's up to him to hunt her down and prove to her just how much she means to him, and how this AI has discovered feelings he never knew he could have.

I would have loved it if this story was longer.  The author did a great job with the emotional complexities, but to me it felt like I was reading the last two chapters of a book.  There's mention of certain things that I would have liked to see fully written out, just so I have a better idea of the characters and the story.
Other than that, this was a quick steamy read, and I finished it in about a half hour.  The idea of a cyber vamp being able to feed off different kinds of energy, sexual and otherwise, is a neat idea, and one that could be taken much farther.  I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a bit of sci-fi and paranormal rolled into one.

Once again, Samantha Fairchild is witness to a murder.  But this time, the murderer has Samantha in his sights as his next victim for witnessing his crime.

Running for her life, desperate for protection, Samantha turns to the only person who can help her.  Vivi Angelina calls on her brother, a Special Forces vet, whom Samantha has a past with and who she wishes never landed on her doorstep.  As Sam and Zach try to find the murderer before he finds her, they must come to terms with their past if they hope to live long enough to have a possible future.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  The author has a wonderful grasp on telling a tale of suspense with romance thrown in.  I can hardly wait for the next Roxanne St. Claire book.  As a reader of light-hearted murder mysteries, I strongly recommend this book for anyone looking for romance, mystery and a little sex thrown in.

As a demon, Gideon's job is pretty simple--torture the souls that pass through his realm.  But after thousands of years, he's starting to get a bit burned out.  After a few visits to a shrink, he's told to get a hobby.  But what hobby could a demon possibly pick that's not only relaxing, but legal, too?

Ballroom dancing.  Oh, yeah.  And when he's paired with the beautiful and curvy Macy, he can't help the lustful images that bombard him.  Thinking a few nights between the covers with her should be adequate to clear her from his system, he sets out to woo her.

But the more time he spends with his mocha-skinned vixen, the more he realizes a few days won't be nearly long enough.

The whole concept of a demon who secretly wants to take ballroom dancing lessons is hilarious.  This book was a great read, and I had a lot of fun with the character interaction.  Macy's a bit unsure of herself because she's a bit on the pudgy side, plus she brings some emotional baggage to the scene, mostly from bad past relationships.  Gideon's spent thousands of years torturing the damned, but feels like there's something missing.  When the two meet in dance class, the attraction is instantaneous and potent.  I would have liked to see Gideon war with himself a bit more over his decisions and feelings, but overall it was a great story.

As the Highlands are about to explode in a battle decreed by the King of Scotland, one Highlander is burning with passion for the sister of a rival chieftain.

Set in mid fourteenth century Scotland, the reader is transported in time to a place where life among the clans is loyalty to one's own clan. That is, until the beautiful headstrong Catriona MacDonald catches the eye of a rival clan chieftain, James Cameron, known as "The Devil".

As James leads his men into the battle for the Glen of Many Legends, his desire for Catriona also threatens to destroy his very life.

My overall impression of this book is that it did allow me to escape into another place and time.  It was a little slow in the beginning, but after about the third chapter I was really enjoying the story.
