Dagan is a soul reaper who harvests darksouls for his father, the Lord of Chaos. While on a routine hunt he comes across a young woman, bound and battered. Normally it wouldn't peak his interest, but something about her spirit calls to him on a primal level. Not understanding what he's doing, he frees her and tells her to live a normal life.

Eleven years later, Roxy still hasn't forgotten the attractive but frightening man who saved her all those years ago. Of course, she didn't take his advice, and now finds herself in over her head when a child is kidnapped. The last thing she expects is for Dagan to reappear in her life, claiming the child abductor she hunts holds the answers to his brother's death.

Seeing each other after all these years makes the feelings they've both tried to repress come screaming to the surface. The two should be mortal enemies, but the attraction between them transcends all their petty differences. Now the two must work together to uncover his brother's killer, before Dagan winds up dead as well...

Stories with gods and goddesses and mythology are always fun to read. This is a modern-day love story about two people who should hate each other, but don't. It's a story about allowing yourself to trust another, and find love along the way. It's about following your heart, and letting it guide you in the choices you make, even if your brain thinks it's wrong.  This book had enough action and suspense to satisfy me, while the tender love story masterfully interwoven softened the plot enough to make it all believable.
