Review: Daemon's Mark by Caitlin Kittredge

Daemon's Mark

$7.99 mass market paperback
St. Martin's Press
Paranormal Fantasy
Released: May 2010

Nocturne City is inhabited by weres, witches, trolls, and other things that go bump in the night. Lieutenant Luna Wilder heads up the Supernatural Crime Squad, and it's her job to keep the city safe.

When a dead body is found in the harbor, her search leads her to an international sex trafficking ring. Getting too close lands her on a ship bound overseas, where a bleak future awaits her.

Once there, help comes in the form of an unexpected ally. As the stakes are raised, Luna needs to decide what her priorities are, and if she's strong enough to face what lies ahead.

This is one of the better paranormal fantasy (or urban fantasy) series out there. I like how Luna is constantly fighting the beast within, but still manages to retain her humanity and compassion in spite of it. No matter what life throws at her, she beats the odds and saves the day. I'm usually not big into the shifter novels, but this is one I buy on the release date, then stay up way too late reading. I hope Caitlin Kittredge is planning on continuing the series, because I'm hooked.
